Abstract:

The definite type of constitution [1] and the rates of biological maturation of an individual are typical for each kind of sport [2,7]. Early sports specialization in many kinds of sport makes the following issues urgent:issues directed toward studying the growth and development of young athletes’ body. It is known that physical development and morphofunctional indices can be the factors, which influencing the results improvement in sport [5]. In recent years, a lot of material has been accumulated on the dynamics of physical and biological development of athletes, the interconnection between the growth and development of an individual and sports achievements. The greatest shifts in the physical development of a person occur at the age of 13-15. This age coincides with intense pubertal development. This is the most difficult period in the life of athletes. There are works devoted to athletes’ physical development study during this period [3,4,5,6,7], as well as research works connected with morphofunctional indices of 11-13 year-old swimmers and divers study [8,9,10]. It coincides with the beginning of this period. However, there were no research works, connected with differences study in constitution and physical development indices in young swimmers and divers during the age period 13-15 years-old. Materials. The article presents physical development and morphofunctional indices comparison in young 13-15 year-old swimmers and divers, who train at sports school of the Olympic reserve in Moscow. Research methods. anthropometry, body weight fractionation, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. We revealed the differences in physical development and body weight content of 14-15 year-old divers and swimmers. Swimmers have higher indices of body length and weight and chest circumference. Divers have the advantage in an active body weight. Conclusion. The carried out research work revealed the differences of physical development in 13-15 year-old swimmers and divers, except the indices of body proportions: the ratio of lateral dimensions of the body size (shoulder width and width of pelvis) to body length.
