Information sources analysis and summarizing, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. As a result of the research we revealed the main characteristics of the systems of Norwegian athletes competitions and the representatives of the Russian team during the period of training for the WCh. The amount of starts at the World Cup stage of the WCh participants from Norwegian female team was 4,1±2,2 (18,6%), male team – 4,1±2,3 (18,6%); Russian team had the following results: 14,4±4,9 (65,4%) and 14,4±3,6 (65,4%), which is 3,5 times higher. Competitive practice of Norwegian team is based on training for “target” disciplines. Competitive practice of the Russian team is based on a universal training. We received quantitative characteristics of sportstechnical results analysis in individual disciplines and calculated the indices of defeat value in the team members from Russia and Norway relative to the winners. The defeat of a female team from Russia was the following: in the qualification of sprint - 4,1%, in skiathlon − 4,3%, in 10 km race − 9,1%, in 30 km race − 6,5%; the results of Norwegian female team are the following: 3,6%, 4,5%, 7,9% and 4,8%. The defeat of a male team from Russia was the following: in sprint qualification − 4%, in skiathlon − 4,1%, in 15 km race– 2,8%, in 50 km race– 1,4%; the results of Norwegian male team are the following: 3,5%, 0,4 %, 2%, 0,3%.
