Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of preservation and long-term operation of Olympic sports facilities as a grandiose event requiring huge investments. History knows many options for the long-term operation of post-Olympic sports facilities. Each host country manages the Olympic resources in its own way. Material. Study and analysis of the world experience in the operation of sports facilities of the XXI century Olympic Games legacy. Research methods. The following methods were used in the study: analysis and generalization of reference, encyclopedic and research literature, study of the experience of using the Olympic legacy. Result. Sports facilities of the XXI century Olympic Games are characterized in the article as modern, easily transformable, high-tech structures. These qualities determine the variety of their applications. The article summarizes the rich experience of using Olympic facilities after the end of the Games, including holding international and national sports competitions, training camps, use for cultural and recreational, cultural and educational purposes, organizing events that contribute to the development of the Olympic movement, etc. Effective use of the Olympic legacy at the end of the Games can bring tangible socio-economic benefits to the host countries, become a "springboard" for their development. Conclusion. The repeated holding of the Olympic Games on territories already equipped for this purpose or facilities repurposed for new purposes allows to reduce costs estimated in billions of dollars. This decision is determined by one of the rational ways of using the Olympic legacy and is supported by the International Olympic Committee.
