Functional nutrition as a factor of a student’s healthy lifestyle formation

Abstract:

The article considers the theoretical and practical concept and students’ functional nutrition significance as the index of their life and health. We substantiated the relevance and significance of the studied process, presented the results of a survey among the students concerning a healthy lifestyle and their knowledge of functional nutrition. The experimental results are analyzed, the characteristic of the studied problem is given. Scientific novelty of the research is in substantiation of practical and theoretical knowledge introduction concerning functional nutrition in a healthy life style formation. Practical significance is in the effectiveness of practical and theoretical knowledge introduction in the questions of a functional nutrition in a healthy life style formation in the day regimen of a student. Materials and Research methods. The object of the research work became 59 students of the 1st-2nd courses of Astrakhan State Medical University of “Obstetrics” department. Young people both boys and girls at the age of 17-23 took part in the questionnaire survey. Studying the attitude of students to a healthy life style, first of all, we revealed how the respondents understand “healthy life style” notion. The components of a healthy life style included labor regimen and an active rest, personal hygiene and organism quenching, getting rid of bad habits, health improvement and the principles of a functional nutrition. We used a theoretical method in the work (scientific and methodological and specialized literature analysis), empirical methods (conversation, questionnaire), the method of mathematical statistics. Results. The initial information gathering helped to reveal the level of students’ knowledge of the functional nutrition and their life values concerning their health and life style. We also studied students’ opinion concerning functional nutrition interconnection in a healthy life style formation in the day regimen of a student. Conclusion. Students correctly explain such notions as a functional nutrition and a healthy life style and realize the necessity of functional nutrition as the index of a rational approach to own health. At the same time the results of the research work prove that only half of students follow the principles of functional nutrition, for the rest of students these principles didn’t become the norm of life.
